Week Five Of The Limitless Organ Detox Series...Let’s Go Pancreas Whoop! Whoop!

Welcome to week five of the limitless organ detox series. This week we will be learning about your pancreas...whoop! whoop!

Your pancreas is actually a gland located behind the stomach in the upper left abdomen. It is surrounded by other organs including the spleen, liver, and small intestine.

Your pancreas plays an essential role into converting (breaking down) the food we eat into energy for our body’s cells.

The two main functions of the pancreas are Exocrine and Endocrine. Let’s unpack each one and see what they do :)

Exocrine:

These exocrine glands produce enzymes to help break down food. These enzymes are called chymotrypsin and trypsin to to help digest the proteins we eat. And amylase to help digest carbohydrates, and lipase to help digest the fats we eat. When you start to digest food and it gets to the stomach a signal is sent to release these enzymes through ducts that lead to the pancreatic duct.

This main duct joins the common bile duct and becomes the ampulla of vater, located at the start of your small intestine (the duodenum).

As we have learned in the past weeks about what the liver and gallbladder do (liver makes bile, gallbladder stores it) this is where that bile comes into play.

When the signal that you are eating is given, the bile stored in your gallbladder and the enzymes made in your pancreas are released into your digestive track to help convert the food into energy.

Endocrine:

Existing in the endocrine section of the pancreas are islet cells that create important hormones and release them directly into the bloodstream. Two of the main hormones are glucagon (which acts in raising your blood sugar), and insulin (which acts to lower your blood sugar).

Maintaining blood sugar levels is imperative to a healthy body. These levels effect the kidneys, the liver, and the brain. (Columbia surgery)

What is pancreatitis?

Pancreatitis simply means inflammation of the pancreas. This inflammation occurs when the enzymes the pancreas produces begin to build up and cannot get through the duct system any longer to break down the food.

Upon being trapped these enzymes organs begin to break down the pancreas itself. (Columbia surgery) That’s kinda ironic huh? The main causes of pancreatitis are long term alcohol abuse, lifestyle choices, and stress.

So how do you keep your pancreas clean and healthy? And return it to health if you have been on a nutritional rollercoaster?

Number one is for sure is to ween yourself off of the processed foods. I know i sound like a broken record, but these foods are just simply horrible for you.

You literally get nothing but sorrow from these foods. Especially the fast food (super processed). If you are still eating it just come up with a plan to ween yourself off and cut back. Maybe one big Mac a week instead of two, etc.

Grains and whole wheat:

I sound like a broken record again but there is nothing healthy about todays genetically modified grains. Especially whole wheat and fructose corn syrup. And these two are in everything.

I still can’t believe it is legal. The FDA is such a corporate crock of shit only looking after the corporations that pay them off to say their plastic food is ok to eat...that’s their karma.

Try to start eating live foods, fresh organic vegetables, with some organic fruit as well (watch the sugar). And some clean grass fed beef. Clean water, clean air, clean food :)

And no smoking or drinking for a bit. If you smoke, devise a plan to stop and stick with it. I use to smoke in my younger years, i know its not easy, but i did the above and never looked back. Smoking will take decades off your life, find a way to stop. Don’t drink alcohol for a bit.

Alcohol in excess is horrible for the organs of the body, the pancreas included. Try taking a week off, if that feels good do two weeks.

I use to drink like a fish also until i seen it headed down a bad path. I took three years off for a total body rest, I feel great! Now I occasionally have a glass of organic wine and don’t even sweat it.

Eat raw and fasting.Eating raw and fasting go hand in hand in giving your body the vitamins and minerals and the time and energy it needs to heal itself. I literally only eat from 4pm to 8pm everyday and I feel amazing!

My body and mind are in super sweet shape because they heal and detox themselves for twenty hours a day. In my eating window I the only eat clean (mostly raw, sprouts, vegatables, etc) and clean meat every once in a while. It wasn’t easy for me to work up to this, and it took a few months, but it was all worth it.

I am putting everything I have learned and the protocol I currently use daily into a coaching program that will be available later this year. I am super excited about it! :)

I will keep you guys updated.

Stress is a killer! There is no part of your body that likes stress, this includes your pancreas. Detox all of the icky people out of your life and raise your vibration for sure.

Drink clean water all day long! It is so important to stay hydrated. Drinking clean water (not tap water) helps your body move the toxins through more efficiently.

It seems to be a common message in this limitless organ detox series...eat clean...drink clean...live clean...and be happy:) These are the tools to a long happy, healthy life :)

Here’s to your health...

Cheers!
