Three Simple Things To Help You Focus

 

It is so easy in our current reality to lose your focus. Life can get super busy and if you're not aware of it you can lose yourself very quickly. You can feel overwhelmed and stressed out which will not lead to healthy decisions. When you are already overwhelmed you develop a kinda “F IT” attitude. I’ve been there, we’ve all been there, you may be there now. So how do we prevent from getting to this point? Or how do you rescue yourself if you are currently there? Let’s find out :)

 

Below are three simple things that I do to help myself stay focused, I know they will help you also.

 

  1. Make a list

It is so super easy to get overwhelmed with daily, weekly, and yearly tasks. We like to think we can remember everything that needs to get accomplished, and maybe you have an awesome memory and can. I know I am part go the rest of us that function better with a well thought out list. After making your list, prioritize it. What I mean by this is put them in order by importance. For example if you have go to the grocery and go window shopping downtown, you defiantly want to do what is more important to you first, you have to eat :) 

2. Do your list

A list is just a bunch of words on a piece of paper if you don’t turn them into action steps. I am guilty of this also. I use to keep transferring things from one day to the next, never really getting them done, but they were on my list. You can set yourself up for success by being realistic with your list, prioritize your list in the order you need to get things accomplished, and then physically do your list, checking off each item as you go. Each checked off item is like a small victory leading to a completed list, have fun with it :)

 

3. Bring all of your energy back to yourself.

I am so guilty of this as well, and it is so easy to spread yourself so thin and not even be aware of it. As with anything awareness is the first step to change. For example two weeks ago I was working in Kansas, we then took a week to travel home to California. I am still working on getting my focus and energy from where we were in Kansas and all of the spots we camped on the way home. It is so easy to leave “a little piece of yourself” / your energy where ever you go. It is so very easy to call it all back though. Follow this exercise: 

Find a quiet place.

Close your eyes.

Say the following out loud, and really focus on the words you say, “feel the words” if you will.

“I ground myself into the earth”

“I am present and aware in my life”

“I call back all of my energy that I have left with others and other places”

“I call all of this energy back to me right now, so that it will help me focus and live my best life, and so it is!”

Repeat this as many times as you need to, believe in it, it works awesome. Believe in yourself, because you are awesome too :)
