The Benefits Of Cold Water Therapy

 

 There is a huge buzz in the health world right now about cold water therapy, which is Awesome!

Some of the health benefits we will be discussing about cold water therapy are:

So what exactly is cold water therapy?

 Cold therapy can be everything from an ice pack on your knee after football practice, to an ice bath after stretching from an explosive workout (you don’t want to do it right after your workout, stretch first).

 Cold water therapy has been around for along time but has been recently brought into the mainstream with Wim Hoff and his cold therapy and breathing programs.

  It can reduce muscle inflammation: 

Delayed onset muscle soreness (doms) is what occurs a couple days after you have an Epic high intensity workout. When you push your muscles past what they are used to, microscopic tears occur in the fibers and inflammation of the tissue.

 The cold reduces the temperature of the damaged tissue and constricts blood vessels. Swelling and inflammation are reduced as the nerve endings become numb reducing pain to the area.

 Cold water immersion, exercise, and healthy nutrition are the trifecta of improving your circulation. How the cold water helps your circulation is that you submerge yourself into the water, blood rushes to surround your vital organs. Your heart then pumps more efficiently sending nutrients and oxygen to your whole body. 

  It improves your Lymphatic and Immune systems:

 Your lymphatic system is one that runs through your body, and helps clean you out. It takes microbes from your cells, bacteria, and waste. This system relies on muscle contraction to work though. So if lead a sedentary life or don’t exercise, you are not properly cleaning out your lymphatic system.
