Stress is no good for anyone...Let it go......
In this blog post we will be discussing the effect of stress on the body, the mind, and everyday life.
Lets go...
The effects of chronic stress will have an effect on everything in your life (and your life as well).
Your physical body, your thoughts and mental wellbeing, your feelings and attitude, and your behavior will all be effected by the way you allow yourself to deal with stress.
I know that seems like a lot all at once, so lets break it down...
Thoughts become things...the mental side of stress...
Thats right, we have all heard the expression “thoughts become things”. And I believe they really do!
If you are concentrated on the negative of your current situation, you are only going to attract negative icky things.
There is another expression that comes to mind...”there is opportunity in everything”. Thats right!
It may seem hard to see sometimes through the emotion that your high stress level has triggered, anger, fear, etc.
But even when things don’t go as we thought they should there is opportunity for us to learn more about our selves.
You can’t control some situations, but you can control your reaction to that situation.
If your brain is constantly thinking about things that stress you out, you have to take back control of your thoughts. You are in charge of you, remember that.
Truly think about the reason you are stressed out. A relationship problem? A divorce? Bad day at work? A job you hate?
Once you have found the root of the problem, work backwards. A job you hate?...start thinking of other career options.
A shitty marriage?...maybe what once was is no more and your path is taking you some where else.
You see what Im getting at.
Life is too short to be stressed out all the time. Unless you are into that, some need to be the martyr and receive attention all of the time, negative or positive. What ever floats your
boat...I don’t judge anyone :) But we can help you recognize and improve this behavior through our life coaching programs, when you are ready.
Some mental health problems from stress include depression, anxiety, personality disorders... No fun.
A great mental exercise to help with stress and anxiety is meditation. There are a lot of apps available to help you through your practice.
I like Breethe and Headspace. These are guided meditations with a lot of different topics and situations.
So all you have to do is find what you are going through, start the meditation and relax. Take a breathe...everything is ok :)
Your body only knows what your mind is telling it.
So if your mental health is not good, and your only concentrate on negative thoughts, your body will react accordingly
.
Lets see what stressful thoughts do to the body...
Cardiovascular disease, including heart disease, high blood pressure, abnormal heart rhythms, heart attacks, and stroke......
...Holy Cow! That is a pretty heavy, scary list!
I'll say it again, your body only knows what your mind is telling it, this is huge!
No body plans on one day having a heart attack, or a stroke. These end results are because of years of bad decisions and the handling of situations.
The two biggest factors that come to mind are nutrition and stress.
We will discuss the nutrition aspect in another blog post, for new we will concentrate on stress.
How to deal with the stress in your life?......
Don’t dwell on the negative. I know if it was that easy, there would be no stress. But at the end of the day it is. Only focus on what you can control in a situation.
What can you do to improve your situation?
Let's use finances for an example. Do you have more month left at the end go the money?
Let's work backwards......
You need more money at the end of the month. To get more money you need to be worth more...follow me on this.
If you need a better job or want to move up from your present position, you need the skills or knowledge to be more profitable for that job or position.
To get these skills you need schooling or more experience at your current position.
No money for school? You could find you a scholarship(s) and/or a pell-grant, etc.
This is just an example. You can control any situation with your reaction. And your body only knows what your mind is telling it.
Some tools for your de-stressing tool box:
