It is week six of the limitless organ detox series already! Wow! I hope you are all feeling cleansed and amazing! This week we are going to be cleaning up your complexion, detoxing your skin.
Well, not really “detoxing” your skin. Let me explain…your skin may be your body’s biggest organ but it does not store toxins. Your skin is referred to as an elimination organ.
Your skin is one of the three main detoxing areas of your body including the bowels, and the lungs. You either breath out toxins, pee or poo them out, or sweat them out. Simple enough. I have repeatedly said that your body is always talking to you. Your skin is like the chalk board that the body uses to convey messages.
For instance when your bowels are overloaded, they push the toxins to your skin. When your lymphatic system is overloaded, you guessed it…it pushes the toxins to your skin. Have a taxed liver? This is why they really call them liver spots.
According to Dr David Lynn ( a dermatologist) the two biggest harms you can do to your skin are cigarette smoking, and prolonged uv ray exposure. Don’t get me wrong, the sun is awesome for you, just not for prolonged chronic (long term) exposure. Balance is key to all things in life.
So if you are following the lifestyle protocol we have established the last month as we have been doing the other organ cleanse’s of clean living and clean eating, your skin will be in good shape. Remember clean air, clean food, and clean water is a great place to start for a healthy life.
Clean air:
Don't smoke. Stay away from industrial pollution, brake dust from freeways, and herbicides and pesticides areas.
Clean food:
Buy all organic fruits and vegetables and wash them with filtered, clean water before consuming. Buy clean meat, grass fed, etc. Avoid chicken, there are no clean corporate chicken farms in America, the poultry laws are way too vague from the evil FDA. Avoid dairy as much as you can, it only leads to inflammation. Buy grass fed if you do consume any dairy though.
Clean water:
Stop buying bottled water. Install a whole house filter and/or a reverse osmosis system under your sink. If you do buy water buy spring water in glass containers if you can. You can also buy reverse osmosis water at grocery stores.
Your skin does fully rebuild itself every 28 days, but how can you help to protect and prolong your skin? Let’s find out below.
Dry brushing:
Dry brushing has been around for a super long time. You literally take a brush ( buy an organic brush with soft bristles) and brush your skin softly. You start at your toes and fingers and brush your skin towards your heart. This helps your lymphatic system move the lymph back to your heart and also helps to exfoliate your skin.

Red light therapy:
Red light therapy is awesome! I use my joovv system every morning. This awesome therapy helps to rebuild your cells and also helps to clean up your skin and help it stay healthy. Below is the link for the full blog post we did on red light therapy.
Infrared sauna:
Let’s get sweaty! Infrared saunas are awesome! The unit we have is a clear light infrared sauna. We went with clear light because of the low EMF’s the unit puts out. You don’t want to be be detoxing while being cooked in a microwave from EMF’s :) You will for sure enjoy the dry clean heat from these type of saunas. You can sweat out a lot of toxins in 30 minute sessions twice a week for best results.
Activated charcoal:
Activated charcoal is a staple when it comes to detoxing. It can be used internally and topically as a binder to bind to toxins as you are detoxing them out. It come in capsule, powder, and topical forms. You can buy it in soaps, toothpaste, and lotions. You can make your own activated charcoal cleansing mask with some local organic honey and activated charcoal. Click the link below for this recipe and the full blog post we covered on activated charcoal.
Turmeric:
Turmeric contains curcumin which is an ass kickin antioxidant that can neutralize free radicals. Free radicals are the ick that comes out when you detox. Curcumin also boosts the activity of the body’s own antioxidant enzymes.
Turmeric is not absorbed very well by the body though unless consumer with black pepper. A great morning drink is turmeric, honey, and black pepper…Mmmmmmm :)
Drinking a lot of clean water:
I can’t stress enough how important it is to drink enough clean filtered or mountain water throughout the day. This helps your body to detox and so much more. It is recommended for men to drink to drink at least 3 liters of clean water a day, and for women to drink at least 2 liters of clean water a day.
I hope you are enjoying this continued limitless organ detox series and feel amazing! Tune in next week for more detox feel goodness!
Here’s to your health…
Cheers!
