Let's dive into the history of the profession, discuss what a Chiropractor actually does, and discuss if chiropractic care is a luxury or a necessity…Let’s go!
Chiropractic care began in 1895 as a profession when David Palmer met a deaf janitor for the first time.
Palmer examined the janitors spine and found a problem with one of his vertebra.
Palmer “adjusted” or manipulated the vertebra, and the janitors hearing was restored.
Thats what I said…the janitors hearing was restored!
Spinal manipulation was not unheard of in this era. Palmer also never claimed to be the first one to use spinal manipulation to cure any diseases.
This was the first recorded time of a Chiropractic adjustment.
Palmer began to use his “hand treatments” to heal many ailments and pains including sciatica, stomach issues, migraine headaches, heart troubles, and epilepsy.
In 1898 Mr Palmer opened the Palmer School & Infirmary of Chiropractic located in Davenport, Iowa.
It was at this facility where Palmer began to teach his chiropractic ways to others.
So…what exactly does a chiropractor do?…
A chiropractor uses spinal manipulations and adjustments to other parts of the body to realign the joints and bones.
These adjustments restore range of motion, reduce pain, improve balance, coordination, and flexibility.
Chiropractors don’t only treat the back and the neck. They can treat pain anywhere in the body.
Some examples are; the shoulders, the head and the jaws, the hips and the pelvis, the elbows and the wrists, and the knees and the ankles.
Unlike most medical doctors who “treat” an Illness (or symptoms) Chiropractic care is great for prevention.
Once you are back in alignment. Staying in alignment is as easy as keeping up with your chiropractic appointments.
Chiropractic care…a luxury or a necessity?
I think many you have the answer to this question by now.
Let's examine the facts: A chiropractor can physically adjust you and cure pain in most places of the body, all without a prescribed medication.
A consistent chiropractor appointment schedule is great for preventing most body aches and pains.
In 1895 David Palmer adjusted a deaf janitor, and his hearing was restored.
I personally have recently restarted my Chiropractic appointments after many years of not going, and many years of hard physical labor on my body.
Needless to say my first visit I was totally out of alignment, oh my goodness. I have made huge steps every appointment we have had.
I will never get relaxed on my Chiropractor appointments again, no way!
I feel that chiropractic care is a necessity. And they will improve your overall health and quality of life.
