We have all been there, and maybe you are there right now. One morning you wake up and realize your pants are fitting a little tighter than they have been.
This is your body talking to you. What you hear it saying will depict how your health will be, and in essence your quality of life.
You have two choices when you feel your pants getting snug. You can ignore your body talking to you and buy bigger pants, or you can listen to your body and get to the root of the cause of tight pants. If you choose to ignore your body when will start to listen?
What pant size will you reach before you listen? Your body will get your attention and something will eventually give. You can keep with your current lifestyle and nutrition choices and buying bigger pants, or you can slowly start to change your life into an epic fun journey where you are filled with happiness and energy. I hope you choose the second. Keep reading to find out how.
The three biggest factors to a healthy life are lifestyle, nutrition, and mindset.
Let’s unpack each one and see where you are at on your journey, and where you want to go.
Lifestyle:
Have you heard the statement that we are a product of our environment? This statement has a lot of truth to it. If you are around negativity all of the time chances are you are going to be a negative person. The same with fear, stress, etc. It is so easy to get trapped into an icky environment and not even be aware of it until you are 40 pounds over weight and stressed out all the time.
To remedy this do a life check. Take a step back for a moment and look at where you are at in life, and where you want to end up. If you are not happy in your current environment, don’t like your job, you feel stuck in an unhealthy relationship, etc, awareness is the first step to change. Once you are aware that you are in an icky environment and your health is going downhill because of it, it time to seek greener pastures :)
This does not happen overnight. You must be patient and consistent with your thoughts, actions, and decisions. Start small, and add from there. For example if you have a coworker that is negative all of the time, slowly start avoiding their negativity. Or switch to a different department, etc.
You also need to start moving. If you lead a sedentary lifestyle and have a sit down sedentary job, you are not moving enough at all. Start easy, maybe take the stairs instead of the elevator. Attend a beginner yoga class. Start a new beginner workout routine, etc.
Rome was not built in a day and neither will your new lifestyle, so be patient and consistent…you got this!
Nutrition:
Nutrition is so important and plays a role in everything we do in life. It is what gives us our energy. It is what will help prevent or cause a disease. Nutrition is essentially fuel and information for your body. If you are eating fast food a lot, processed food full of toxic chemicals, and genetically engineered foods (GMO’S), you are telling your body that you don’t care about it and it does not really matter how long you live.
I know this is not what you are meaning to say to your body, just remember your body only see’s food as good fuel, or bad fuel. Super processed foods that contain fructose corn syrup and modern day GMO wheat feed your bad gut buddies that wreak havoc on your micro biome. Your micro biome is often referred to as your second brain. This is because it reads what to do with the food you eat.
How to remedy your nutrition is start slow. Meaning if you are addicted to fast food and eat it for three meals a day, start by eliminating one fast food meal and cooking at home instead. You have to plan ahead and stock your cabinets with healthy clean food first, or you will not do it.
Clean organic vegetables and clean meat are a great easy place to start bettering your nutrition. Instead of having that super processed chemical ridden fast food burger, make yourself a grass-fed burger with some yummy organic broccoli or Brussel sprouts instead. Easy breezy :)
I often hear people say they can’t afford to eat healthy, this is just an excuse. Prove me wrong. Keep track of what you spend eating out and buying super processed food for one week, and then the next week try buying only organic vegetables and clean meat, and make them at home.
Compare receipts and you will see it is actually cheaper to eat at home and you feel better because you aren’t clogging your cells up with processed shit foods. But you will have to do the work, prepare the food.
The next excuse is I don’t have time to be healthy. This is complete bullshit also. Prove me wrong…keep a time journal for one week, from the time you wake up to the time you go to bed.
At the end of the week add up all of the hours you sit in front of the tv absorbing all of the negative fake agenda ridden news…you have time to be healthy.
If you drink soda or diet soda, also energy drinks, please ween yourself off of these and eventually stop drinking them all together. These are nothing less than future bad disease in a sugar filled can. You can do it, taper down, one can at a time.
Take one day and one decision at a time, be patient and be consistent and your nutrition change and it will be sustainable.
Mindset:
Have you heard the saying that thoughts become things? This statement is 100% accurate. Your mindset controls how you act and what you attract in life. There is a great quote from Henry Ford…”If you think you can do a thing or think you can’t do a thing, you’re right”.
This quote is so powerful and so true. If you tell yourself that you are not good enough, you will never be good enough. If you think you are not good at something, you will never be good at that something. You see where I’m going with this? Everything starts in the mind.
I taught myself to snowboard when I was 37 years old. If I would have told myself oh no, your to old to learn anything new, or it will take way to long to learn something like snowboarding… I never would have strapped on my board and learned one of the things I enjoy greatly in life now. I had so much fun learning, and was so excited going to the mountain every chance I could. By my second season I was ripping the mountain with the best of them, all because I knew in my head and in my soul that I could do it.
Think positive thoughts and you will attract positive things. And know in your mind, body and soul that you are Limitless at anything you want to achieve or do.
You got this!
Be patient, be consistent, and transform your life :)
Here’s to your health,
Cheers!
