Limitless Organ Detox Week Three…How About That Gallbladder?
I think we all know someone that has had their gallbladder removed. It seems like a common issue these days, but it does not have to be.
You can live without your gallbladder with a restricted diet, lifestyle changes, and supplements, but none of that sounds any fun. Especially when you can make a few changes now and have a healthy gallbladder.
So what exactly does your gallbladder do?
Essentially your gallbladder is a storage place for the bile your liver makes. Gall (another name for bile), and bladder (a storage sack.) As we learned last week in the liver post this bile helps to breakdown fat.
It is stored in your gallbladder until you consume fat, the gallbladder then squeezes or contracts to send this bile into your digestive track. The gallbladder helps to concentrate this bile by removing up to 80-90% of the water from bile making it more efficient in breaking down fats. (Gallbladder matters)
So how does your gallbladder get unhealthy?
You guessed it…poor nutrition…:) And with 75% of the country obese, we can see what kind of nutrition choices people are making. Your body works so hard when you are carrying excess weight, thats why we are here detoxing all of our organs to make room for the goodness.
Gallstones:
Gallstones literally are hard stone like pebbles the vary in size and form in your gallbladder. They are made up of bad cholesterol or a bile salt called bilirubin. Gallstones can get caught in the bile duct, this is when you are “passing a gallstone”.
When a stone is too large and will not pass easily severe pain is felt until it is passed, or if you cannot pass it, worse case scenario you have to have your gallbladder removed.
This should be the last resort. Everyone has gallstones and pass them often. Just because some stones show up on an ultrasound be Leary if your doctor wants to take out your gallbladder. It is so much more easy to cleanse them out yourself, as long as you didn’t wait to long.
It is never a good idea for cutting an organ out of your body if you don’t have to, we didn’t come with extra parts :) If you are only feeling a little bit of pain, your gallbladder is trying to get your attention to clean it up. If you go to the typical America doctor they will just cut it out and change your whole quality of life, try detoxing and cleaning up your lifestyle and nutrition.
Doctors and big Pharma love cutting you up and putting you on pills to mask your symptoms…how gross. I wouldn’t want that karma. There is always a natural way to heal, it is usually a handful of lifestyle choices and the true want to feel better.
So does it matter if your gallbladder gets removed? You bet your ass it does. Upon the removal of your gallbladder your liver has no place to store bile, the bile will not be getting concentrated any longer, meaning it will be less effective when emulsifying (breaking down) the fats you consume. You will be on a restricted diet, you could have avid disaster pants, and be on medication the rest of your life. No thanks. Let's get to detoxing! :)
What are the main diseases that can effect the gallbladder?
Cholecystitis: Refers to Inflammation of the gallbladder and is caused by gallstones.
Acute (temporary) Cholecystitis may show itself with pain in the upper right side or middle part of your abdomen. These pains will probably reveal themselves after eating a (bad) high fat meal, trans fats, processed food, fast food, etc. This is your body talking to you, telling you to change your lifestyle and nutrition choices or temporary pain will turn into chronic pain.
In Chronic (long lasting) Cholecystitis there has been several temporary attacks on the gallbladder and it can shrink and lose its ability to store and release bile. Abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting can occur. (Healthline)
Choledocholithiasis: This is when a gallstone actually becomes lodged in you bile ducks. When this happens your liver can no longer release bile into the intestines. When this is happening you can feel fever, extreme pain in your upper abdomen, chills, nausea, vomiting, jaundice. (Healthline) At this point you have not listened to your body and didn’t change your lifestyle so its time to see your pill rendering doctor. Uh oh….:(
So how do you detox/cleanse your gallbladder before all of this icky happens?
The cleanse I do is the Dr Hulda Clark cleanse which has been around a very long time. You will want to test your reaction to the food grade epson salt before you start your cleanse. Do this by adding a tablespoon to a glass of clean water a few days in a row before you start your cleanse. Start with one tablespoon, add another the next day, and end up with three on the third day. This will get your body use to the yummy epson salt.
One week before the cleanse you need to drink some organic apple juice (a few cups a day) or if you are like me and don’t want that much sugar, you can take a malic acid supplement. Malic acid is found naturally in apples and helps to soften the gallstones making them easier to pass.
Here are the supplies you will need for your cleanse:
A large drinking straw
Two grapefruits
Cold pressed organic extra virgin olive oil
Epsom salt powder ( or capsules)
Ornithine
Black walnut hall tincture or capsules
Vitamin C
Citric acid
A one pint jar
The night before you start your cleanse you will want to eat a zero fat dinner.
Day One Protocol:
Eat a zero fat breakfast, organic vegetables, etc, or fast.
Eat a zero fat lunch: Organic vegetables, organic black rice, etc.
Stop eating for the day by 2 pm..
Mix 4 tablespoons of the epson salt ( or 15 capsules) and 1/2 teaspoon vitamin C with 3 cups of clean filtered water in the one pint jar and store it in the refrigerator when done. This is four servings.
6PM: Drink 3/4 cup of your jar of goodness. Or take the 15 capsules if you went that route.
8PM: Drink 3/4 cup of your jar of goodness ( or take the 15 capsules).
9:45 PM: Squeeze 1/2 cup grapefruit juice (no pulp), and mix into a half cup of organic olive oil. Put the lid on your container and shake it up :) Add 1/2 teaspoon of citric acid and shape it up again :)
Beside your bed place this mixture, 1 teaspoon ( or two capsules) of black walnut, and 4-8 capsules of ornithine. You will twice visit the bathroom.
While sitting up in bed or standing drink the grapefruit juice and olive oil mixture within 5 minutes through the straw. Take the black walnut and ornithine within the first few sips of the olive oil/ grapefruit.
Once this is done lay down right after and do not get back up for the night. Prop your head up for twenty minutes, you can then allow for yourself to fall asleep.
Day 2:
When you wake up: Drink 3/4 cup of your refrigerated jar mixture ( or 15 capsules). Get back in bed.
Two hours later: Drink another 3/4 cup (or 15 capsules). Get back int bed.
After two more hours; You can now start to slowly eat. Start slow with a little organic fruit juice, or an organic piece of fruit. After another hour or two you can add in some organic steamed yummy vegetables. That night you can have a normal clean, organic dinner :)
Congratulations! You have completed your gallbladder cleanse!
It is advised to get a colonic after your cleanse to clean out any gallstones that may have left behind in the colon.
How often should you do this cleanse?
A good general rule of thumb is one cleanse for every 10 years in your age, two to three weeks apart. Once this is done a maintenance schedule of one cleanse per quarter should keep your gallbladder healthy. (Thefamilythathealstogether)
Tune in next week for the continued Limitless organ detox as we will be discussing the kidneys and how to keep them happy :)
Enjoy your cleansing!
Heres to your health…
